Shizuo Imaizumi, founder of Shin-Budo Kai, a style of aikido, demonstrates a move with the help of Mark Winkworth, chief instructor of Durango Shin-Budo Kai, on Monday evening at the Mason Center. Imaizumi Sensei, as he is called using the Japanese word for “teacher”, was celebrating his 50th year in Aikido, and visited the school on his way from New York to a three day seminar in Albuquerqu, NM. Imaizumi Sensei is one of only a handful of people still teaching who studied directly with Morihei Ueshiba, O Sensei, the founder of aikido, according to Steve Self, an instructor at the school. |
