Aikido for Kids

  • 1 hour
  • From 15 US dollars

Class Description

Aikido teaches young people nonviolent solutions to skillfully handle conflicts, bullying, and even pesky siblings! Participants will learn practical Aikido techniques, which redirect the energy and momentum of an attack to snuff out the violence. Ai-kiddos also develop confidence and physical coordination through basic weapons training with the bokken (wooden sword) and jo (wooden staff). Expect a mix of action-packed games, mindful breathing moments, technical practice, and some thoughtful discussions. This weekly class is for young humans ages 8 and up (regardless of where they identify on a gender spectrum). Working around all the winter holidays, classes will be held on the following five Thursdays: 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, and 12/14. Please ask about family pricing options if you'd like to register siblings. Participants should wear workout attire or a training gi (which prevent damage to everyday clothes). Bring a water bottle.
